About Lance Hazzard

Prior to founding Oppnå® Executive & Achievement Coaching, Inc., Lance Hazzard served as a Vice President of Human Resources at Medtronic, working in multiple business units and large group functional capacities. During his 19-year tenure with the corporation, Lance helped lead integration efforts with a number of mergers/acquisitions, aligned teams, managed global budgets and organizations, and coached numerous leaders and employees. Previously, Lance worked with RCA, GE and Thomson as an HR professional and leader in the consumer electronics industry. In total, Lance’s HR career encompassed more than 35 years while working with several Fortune 100 companies.

Lance’s first experience with executive coaching dates back to 2003, when he personally benefitted from being paired with a coach. Ten years later, Lance volunteered to participate in Medtronic’s Inaugural Coaching Cadre, which was based upon the process developed by the internationally recognized, Co-Active Training Institute (CTI). Using the CTI Co-Active Coach® method, the yearlong program required cadre members to coach high potential, emerging leaders within Medtronic. Participation in the program equipped Lance to serve others in the same way that he had been served, and inspired him to continue training.

Lance holds multiple coaching certifications, including the Certified Professional Co-Active Coach® (CPCC) designation through CTI, the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Intelligent Leadership Executive Coaching Certification through John Mattone University.

Lance is co-author of the book, Accelerating Leadership, written to help leaders integrate executive coaching in their organizations.

As a professional coach with executive experience, Lance uses passion and purpose to help people and organizations achieve success. He is dedicated to helping you achieve what’s next.

Oppnå: A Norwegian word meaning, “Achieve.”

“Oppnå, which is Norwegian for “achieve,” is more than a business name to me; it is a tribute to my mother, who passed away at the age of 94 as I was making plans to establish my coaching practice.

“The daughter of Norwegian immigrants, my mother inherited their courageous spirit and enterprising work ethic. In turn, she instilled in
my siblings and me a drive to achieve.

“Achievement remains one of my core values. My life purpose is to be the link that helps people and organizations achieve success. I welcome the opportunity to put my passion, purpose, values and experience to work for you.”

“I have appreciated that you don’t judge a situation, a thought/feeling or belief (or say “here is the RIGHT answer” :))- you help me look at things from different perspectives and think about how a situation was handled and what was positive about it, what could have been done differently, etc.”
